White Martins, Brazilian leader in the industrial and hospital gases segment, has developed a virtual reality system for mapping its plants in Brazil. In one year there was a 70% reduction in travel costs (R $ 270 thousand per month) and a 50% gain in decision-making time. “Also, the technology allows 60% of the team does not need to be in the field because it can identify opportunities for adjustments and gains in performance remotely,” analyzes Marcela Silva, engineer and productivity leader responsible for the project at White Martins.

The equipment allows the capture of images in 360º so that the area of Engineering and Operations of the company can analyze its industrial units remotely. In this evaluation, it is possible to verify, with greater assertiveness, potential interventions to improve performance and clarification of technical doubts.
The technology – comprised of a camera attached to a person’s helmet on the field, VR glasses, and server for storing content – has already been applied for mapping three of the company’s plants: Ouro Branco (MG), Pecem (CE) and Tres Lagoas (MS), as well as a cylinder filling unit in Duque de Caxias (RJ).
